This Shanling is better made and destroys all the other players I've owned in terms of sound quality...for about half the price. WIDE sound-stage, clear, warm delivery that keeps getting better. Like the Classic 10.0 pre-amp I bought and reviewed herein, the Shanling keeps getting better after a slightly cold out-of-the-box presentation. I've even tried connecting one of my other players to a decent quality external DAC to see if I could better the CD-S100 and nope, couldn't do it. The Shanling won every time. It does only one slightly annoying thing: when you press PLAY, there is a slight delay before the music starts that I wasn't expecting. No matter.
